    Job Summary:
    We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Buyer to be responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products for an AS9100 certified manufacturing business. Your responsibilities will include processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, quality assurance and liaising with inventory teams and management. The buyer will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand.

    In compliance with Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $75k - $90k. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
    Essential Job Duties:
    • Issue Requests For Quotations and Request For Proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select best source consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
    • Negotiate and manage long term pricing agreements on critical commodities.
    • Ensure timely purchase of products in assigned categories, meeting Emcore specifications, and obtaining the best value.
    • Complete purchase requests with suppliers by inputting purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and verifying all transactions.
    • Handle correspondence concerning over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates, and prices and report such changes to the interested parties in a timely manner as required.
    • Act as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to resolve procurement related problems.
    • Process non-conforming material requests and Return Material Authorizations (RMA) requests with supply chain partners.
    • Authorize payment for purchases by reviewing invoices and related documentation.
    • Maintain appropriate inventory levels consistent with targeted inventory goals and as set by management.
    • Maintain accuracy of stock code information within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, including lead-time, pricing, current supplier information, current purchase order data, etc.
    • Monitor supplier performance by ensuring that product is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications; maintaining appropriate files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure company requirements are met and that supplier is aware of their performance.
    • Assist internal and external customers by interpreting laws, policy, codes, and regulations pertaining to purchasing; answer inquiries both orally and in writing concerning purchasing operations.
    • Participate as a member of cross-functional teams to analyze sales forecasts and develop sourcing and supply strategies aligned with the forecast.
    • Convert purchase requisitions into purchase orders, following proper documentation and approval procedures.
    • Communicate effectively with internal teams to understand their requirements and ensure accuracy in order placement.
    • Collaborate with Customer Service Representatives to resolve customer issues related to orders and deliveries.
    • Conduct research on potential vendors and prepare a comparative analysis of their offerings.
    • Foster and nurture relationships with suppliers, ensuring a deep understanding of their product availability, lead times, and pricing while keeping them informed about our evolving requirements.
    • Other additional tasks and responsibilities as deemed necessary by the management.
    Minimum Education Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or a combination of school and equivalent work experience.
    Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
    • 5 years procurement experience in an ISO9000/AS9100 manufacturing environment.
    • 5 years of aerospace purchasing experience.
    • Ability to read/translate blueprints.
    • Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Strong Negotiation skills.
    • Working knowledge of Materials Resource Planning (MRP) and ERP systems.
    • Experience in Kanban & Consignment Inventory Management processes.
    • Understanding of overall materials flow and other functions linked to the Supply Chain.
    • Knowledge of inventory management concepts.
    • Strong systems knowledge and proficiency. Syteline experience preferred.
    • High ethical standards. Models and supports organization’s goals and values; adapts to changing conditions; demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles.
    • Ability to prioritize, balance, and manage multiple efforts with strong results/goal orientation. Uses time effectively, prioritizes and organizes workflow; can orchestrate multiple activities at once.     Preferred Skills or Characteristics:
    • Completion of American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) classes a plus.
    • Green Belt, Black Belt or Lean certification a plus.
    • Syteline experience a plus.
