POSITION SUMMARY:

The Merchandise Allocator role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is responsible for forecasting merchandise sales by retail store location as well as for allocating quantities of merchandise by store. This role works closely with key business partners throughout retail stores, Buying, the Distribution Center, as well as Merchandising.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Allocate merchandise to stores. Manage and own department-level merchandise allocations. Maximize inventory productivity.
• Ensure that assigned merchandise categories are in stock within the stores. Meet or exceed store level in-stock goals at all times.
• Ensure consistent and profitable in-season merchandise replenishment strategies for the stores.
• Comply with all Distribution Center inventory parameters.
• Identify fast moving items as well as respond to seasonality and trends. Communicate an appropriate action plan to the buyers in an effort to sustain in-stock position by store.
• Create and enter purchase orders for direct-to-store deliveries. Execute plans by store. Work with logistics teams to ensure vendor and delivery compliance by location.
• Ensure overall efficiency, integrity, as well as accuracy of the replenishment systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• 2 or more years of experience in replenishment or allocation is required.
• 3 or more years of retail experience, including management, is strongly preferred.
• Prior experience and working knowledge of replenishment or allocation systems is strongly preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft (notably Excel) and Google platforms (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard
  potential.
• Works in an office environment sitting at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.
• Some weekend work may be required during seasonal times depending on the needs of the business.

The salary range for this position is between $22.00 - $24.00 / hr. Salary commensurates with experience.
