  • Araca Merchandise is seeking applicants for a position at the Boston Ballet. This role is responsible for conducting sales, maintaining inventory, supervising sales staff, and completing administrative reporting.

    The Merchandise Manager will report to Araca’s VP of Customer Experience. This position is concurrent with the Boston Ballet Repertory season (winter, spring, summer dance program, and The Nutcracker holiday season).

    With an array of productions happening at the Ballet, we are seeking applications from candidates who feel they meet the below requirements. Particularly, we are seeking qualified candidates who are as excited about the ballet as the patrons!

    Job Expectations:

    • Conduct sales in a professional and helpful manner, consistent with the highest principles of customer service.
    • Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills in the context of retail operations.
    • Act as liaison between Araca, artistic, and management teams, and venue management.
    • Maintain a courteous and professional attitude, projecting a positive image of the company at all times.
    • Oversees a sales team during the The Nutcracker holiday season, focusing on and exemplifying Araca’s sales and service standards.

    Job Duties:

    • Oversee retail logistics, including loading merchandise kiosks and preparing sales areas.
    • Manage and track inventory and submit accurate inventory reports.
    • Sell merchandise and provide courteous and relevant product information to customers.
    • Maintain cash and credit card receipts and submit daily and weekly accountings and deposits.
    • Liaise with ballet management to ensure efficient retail operations.

    Requirements:

    • Prior management and customer service experience.
    • Able to maintain a “customer-first” attitude and prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
    • Self-directed problem solver, able to think strategically and meet deadlines.
    • Strong organization, communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Able to lift 50 lbs.
    • A love of ballet/dance highly encouraged

    Compensation: $20 per hour. The Manager typically works 30-40 hours per week during the ballet season.
