Mental Health Technician observes and assists assigned mental health patients and helps with daily living activities, therapeutic activities, and socialization. Responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic environment in the psychiatric unit and to ensure the safety of patents and staff. Being a Mental Health Technician attends and participates in group therapy, in-service education, and staff meetings. Records information about patients including vital signs, weight, and demeanor. Additionally, Mental Health Technician may communicate with patients family as needed. Typically requires an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a registered nurse (rn) or other supervisor. The Mental Health Technician works under moderate supervision. This is an opportunity to coordinate patient care with a breakthrough treatment modality called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation ("TMS") for the treatment of depression.
The TMS Technician will be in charge administering patient care and patients regarding TMS treatment. The TMS Technician will be trained and certified to administer in-office treatments at our Poughkeepsie, NY office location under the direction of our treating physician.
The TMS Technician position is perfect for an individual who desires to make a difference in patient care with a breakthrough medical device for the treatment of depression. Health care experience is preferred but not required. The most important skill is communicating with patients and making them feel comfortable and safe. Strong attention to detail is required and the ability to follow a daily treatment checklist. This individual needs to be able to respond effectively in an emergency situation for patient care, possess strong listening and communication skills, be attentive to detail, and have the willingness to learn the use of a medical technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Health Care Clinical Professional experience preferred but not required
· Two or more years of related experience in a customer or patient-facing role
Experience:
· Proficient in Microsoft Office with exposure to some data management software experience
· Experience addressing any patient’s medical conditions or symptoms, including basic life support certification
· Experience with operating a medical/mechanical device
