Mental Health Technician jobs in Florida
Mental Health Technician observes and assists assigned mental health patients and helps with daily living activities, therapeutic activities, and socialization. Responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic environment in the psychiatric unit and to ensure the safety of patents and staff. Being a Mental Health Technician attends and participates in group therapy, in-service education, and staff meetings. Records information about patients including vital signs, weight, and demeanor. Additionally, Mental Health Technician may communicate with patients family as needed. Typically requires an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a registered nurse (rn) or other supervisor. The Mental Health Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Mental Health Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

Situated in the city of Belle Glade, the Center provides a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care to clients and their families in surrounding communities.
Purpose:
To assist professional staff perform those client care activities which will help stabilize the client’s mental condition
Major Responsibilities:- Provide safe on-site supervision of clients
- Assist clients of daily living (showers, hygiene, and education) and on unit routine
- Individual and group discussion
- Address problem behavior as needed through verbal de-escalation techniques
- Participate in therapeutic recreational activities
- Record all aspects of observations of clients behaviors
- Keep neat, written logs on clients activities
- Assist in complete admission and discharge paperwork
- Attend clinical and staff meetings
- May provide transport to clients as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior management
- Minimum educational experience in High School Diploma or GED
- Demonstrate problem solving skills
- Ability to work with diverse personalities
- High degree of attention to detail, personal initiative and community to quality
- Excellent proven oral and written communication skills
- Must be service-minded with professional appearance and attitude
- Knowledge of 12-step program is preferred
- Active driver’s license and clean driving record
