Men's Athletics Director jobs in Columbus, MS

Men's Athletics Director directs all facets of a university/college's men's athletic program, including intramural and intercollegiate sports. Manages the entire men's coaching staff. Being a Men's Athletics Director schedules use of facilities, transportation, and sporting events. Also responsible for fundraising, publicity, ticket pricing and distribution, and purchase of new equipment. Additionally, Men's Athletics Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Men's Athletics Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Men's Athletics Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • Essential Duties
    • Serves on the departmental senior staff in long and short-term planning, development of policies, and development and management of the budget.
    • Remains current with and upholds the rules and regulations of the NCAA, conference, and university that may influence the operation of the intercollegiate athletics program.
    • Serves as a departmental liaison for fundraising initiatives.
    • Serves as the department liaison with the admissions office in monitoring admissions of new and continuing student-athletes and coaching graduate assistants.
    • Acts as administrative liaison and game management coordinator for all team sports as assigned..
    • Coordinates exit interviews for graduating student-athletes in cooperation with faculty athletic representative and sport supervisors.
    • Works as liaison with housing , financial aid, accounting and other departments.
    • Represents the Director of Athletics and/or the department at meetings and conventions as required.
    • Performs special projects and promotional events as directed
    • Works with the Residence Life office concerning all on-campus housing issues.
    • Remains in full compliance with NCAA, University, and future Conference rules and regulations, and acknowledges this compliance as part of an annual evaluation process.
    • Assists the Director of Athletics with the allocation of budget funds for the department.
    • Responsible for all other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
    Minimum Qualifications
    Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred
    • Minimum of three years’ experience in coaching and/or athletic administration experience at an NCAA Division I, II or III level institution, conference office or the NCAA
    • Thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations and NCAA policies/procedures required
    • Familiarity with NCAA Compliance Assistance Software and other compliance tracking software preferred
    • A clean driving record and a valid driver’s license required


    Job Description Summary
    Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Director of Athletics will assist in the oversight of all administrative operating procedures and advancement of the athletic program at large to focus on fundraising, game day management, special promotions and other duties as assigned.
