Office of New York State Assembly Member Chantel Jackson LMSW is looking for a Director of Constituent Services!
The Constituent Services Director leads the office’s constituent services work, handling and resolving cases, connecting residents to services and resources, and identifying emerging community issues. The Director is responsible for creating and maintaining the Constituent Services databases. This team member also manages the operations of the district office and runs our Constituent Services Team, a collective of district volunteers that assists in case intake and resolution, while helping to democratize knowledge of government systems and bureaucracies.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for directing the office’s constituent relations.
Oversee constituent management system, including intake, tracking, follow-up, and resolution of constituent issues. Create and maintain databases. Plan Community events.
Serve as main caseworker in the office, assisting constituents with addressing a range of concerns including, but not limited to: unemployment, housing, health care, and public benefits programs.
Act as liaison to state departments, agencies, and private companies to resolve constituent issues, answer questions, and address concerns.
Develop and manage relationships with government agencies, elected officials’ offices, and community-based organizations to help resolve constituent cases.
Build, manage, and sustain a volunteer base and empower highly engaged volunteers to take on leadership roles within the office’s constituent services efforts.
Manage potential interns/students conducting casework.
Identify emerging community issues and trending problems which may require district-wide events, office escalation, and/or policy action.
Oversee the operation of the Constituent Services department– keep updated community information, events and workshops, manage the phones, and voicemail systems, and identify and oversee production of resources for constituents.
Occasionally flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Key Abilities and Experience:
Speaking and/or writing knowledge of Spanish strongly preferred
Professional experience with constituent services, case management, social service delivery and/or client intake strongly preferred.
Research and decision making skills, with ability to proactively find solutions and work independently, as well as to collaborate across a small team.
Track record of recruiting, training, and managing volunteers.
Comfort/experience with a public-facing position and managing a physical space.
Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically, including in a fast-changing, often high stakes environment.
Ability to treat confidential information with appropriate discretion.
Knowledge of and familiarity with the communities of the district.
