Meeting/Event Planner plans and organizes live or virtual meetings and events for an organization or external clients. Implements an event strategy to achieve objectives. Being a Meeting/Event Planner researches and recommends event venues. Coordinates meeting logistics, including attendee registration, transportation, accommodations, meals, and technology. Additionally, Meeting/Event Planner conducts rehearsals and system checks of all equipment and connectivity. Researches and maintains relationships with vendors for event support services. Coordinates budget planning and ensures that events stay within cost projections. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Meeting/Event Planner occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.   • General Description

    The purpose of this job is to participate in planning studies, assist in the preparation of planning reports, assist the public, and assist with the application of policies according to an established plan for land use and development and related work as apparent or assigned.

    Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Director of Planning.


    Duties and Responsibilities

    The functions listed below are those that represent most of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

    • Assist the public regarding the requirements of the County’s subdivision and zoning ordinances.
    • Assists the public in filing out applications; verifies that necessary paperwork is included upon submittal of an application.
    • Creates maps using Arc GIS.
    • Assists on special projects related to comprehensive planning, subdivision, and zoning ordinances amendments and related planning studies.
    • Reviews established long-range plans for land use and development; makes recommendations; identifies areas of concern and drafts new policies, plans, and ordinances.
    • Collects and organizes data on social, economic, physical, and other planning-related areas for inclusion in reports and presentations.
    • Coordinates and assists in facilitating neighborhood community association meetings; serves as a departmental liaison with community and professional agencies.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

    Requires a Bachelor’s degree in planning or a related field and at least one (1) year of related experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department/agency) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification.


    Physical Demands:

    This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires standing and walking; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data an observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
