Meeting/Event Director directs the overall planning and strategy for live or virtual meetings and events for an organization. Defines the goals, success metrics, and messaging for events. Being a Meeting/Event Director implements best practices and develops planning standards, policies. and procedures. Additionally, Meeting/Event Director develops a network of vendors. Approves the final selection of venues, catering, technology, and other event support services. Reviews and approves contracts and has overall responsibility for ensuring events stay within budget. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Meeting/Event Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Meeting/Event Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The Director of the Montessori School of Pawleys Island (MSPI) is a collaborative leader within the school and the local community, reporting to and working closely with the school’s Board of Directors. The Director will oversee all issues that concern the day-to-day operations of the school and will act as a liaison between Board members, parents, teachers, school staff, and the community. The Director will enlist the support of the Montessori community create an environment that fosters the success of all students and facilitates the development, implementation, and evaluation of a shared vision of excellence in education firmly grounded in the Montessori philosophy. Every aspect of the school, including its management structure, will be guided by Montessori principles, so it is vital that the Director understands and can articulate the essence of Montessori education.
