Meeting/Event Director directs the overall planning and strategy for live or virtual meetings and events for an organization. Defines the goals, success metrics, and messaging for events. Being a Meeting/Event Director implements best practices and develops planning standards, policies. and procedures. Additionally, Meeting/Event Director develops a network of vendors. Approves the final selection of venues, catering, technology, and other event support services. Reviews and approves contracts and has overall responsibility for ensuring events stay within budget. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Meeting/Event Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Meeting/Event Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     OBJECTIVE

    The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the Maintenance Departments for buildings, grounds and equipment. These responsibilities are in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. The Maintenance Supervisor will ensure that the facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner, under the direction of the Executive Director.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

    1. High school graduate or equivalent related work experience in maintenance.

    2. Caring person with a desire to work with the frail and elderly.

    3. Willingness to perform a variety of simple repetitive tasks, many of which will involve unpleasant conditions.

    4. Practical knowledge of day-to-day maintenance in a long-term care facility.

    5. Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment in support of facility maintenance objectives.

    6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, coordinate and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity.

    7. Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and make independent decisions.

    8. Approachable, flexible and adaptable to change.

    Maintenance Supervisor 2

    15. Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    a. Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the Maintenance Department, its programs and activities, and coordinate those services and activities with other related departments.

    b. Conduct regular rounds of the facility to check all plant maintenance areas to assure the quality control and safety, health and welfare of residents, employees and others within the facility, and correct or report equipment failure or damage to administration immediately.

    c. Check air conditioning and heating units, fire alarm and emergency generator system and document test results as required.

    d. Check pumps station and breaker panels, washers and dryers in laundry.

    e. make daily repairs to any equipment as necessary.

    f. Check water and boiler temperature, dietary cooking equipment, gas pressure, kitchen hood, sprinkler system, cooling equipment, public address system, fire extinguishers and alarms, fire doors, electrical outlets, etc.

    g. Interpret the department's guidelines and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc.

    h. Complete forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc. to assure control of equipment and supplies.

    i. Submit accident and incident reports for maintenance department to safety committee chair.

    j. Inspect storage rooms, work rooms, utility and janitorial closet, etc. for upkeep, supply control and safety.

    k. Review and develop a plan of correction for maintenance deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy of that plan to the Executive Director.

    l. Delegate a responsible staff member to act on your behalf when absent from the facility.

    m. Assist in identifying, evaluating and classifying routine and job-related maintenance functions to ensure that universal precautions are carried out within the facility and that they comply with guidelines.

    n. Inventory and requests needed supplies to perform assigned tasks.

    o. Recognize and respond to maintenance emergencies and document observations, interventions and outcomes.

    p. Maintain temperature control and good repair of physical plant, both inside and out, including but not limited to resident call lights, door alarms, plumbing, heating, air conditioning and other electrical units, nursing and other department equipment such as wheelchairs, etc. maintaining humidifiers, facility vehicles maintenance.

    q. Attends required in-services and completes assigned on-line modules, if applicable.

    r. Ensure that all equipment and supplies are properly cleaned and stored.

    s. Ensure that all work areas are free of hazardous conditions, ie., spills, excessive supplies, equipment, ect.

    t. Report any damage of walls, floors, furniture, equipment etc. to Executive Director.

    u. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

    1. Interacts with staff and residents.

    2. Work will be performed indoors/outdoors, throughout all areas of facility, including in resident rooms.

    3. May be subjected to interruptions throughout the workday.

    4. Exposure to blood, body tissue of fluids.

    5. Exposure to hazardous waste materials, dust and loud or unpleasant noises.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    1. Employee needs ability to move continuously; may cover large distances walking through facility and is on feet consistently.

    2. Frequently required bend, stoop, reach, crouch, push and pull; occasionally required to squat, crawl climb, kneel and balance.

    3. Employee is required to continuously lift and carry up to ten (10) lbs.; frequently required to lift up to fifty (50) lbs. and carry up to thirty-five (35) lbs.

    4. Employee may be exposed to changes in temperature and humidity.

    5. Ability to adapt to changes in daily work hours and schedule.

    6. Ability to work beyond regularly scheduled shift (overtime) when necessary.

    7. Ability to perform tasks which require arm-hand steadiness.

    8. Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time through duration of shift(s).

    9. Ability to keep attention on task if routinely interrupted.

    Employees will be expected to:

    1. Follow correct policy and procedures for department and facility Fire/Disaster/Missing Person Plan. Know the location of fire alarms and extinguishers.

    2. Follow correct policy and procedure for hand washing.

    3. Follow guidelines for proper method of lifting.

    4. All doorways, hallways and areas are to be kept clear.

    5. Know the location and purpose of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

    6. Follow guidelines for department environment and safety measures.

    7. Follow guidelines for safe handling, inspection, maintenance and storage of equipment. Report any malfunction of equipment.

    8. Follow guidelines for safe handling and storage of all food items.

    9. Follow guidelines for safe handling and storage of chemicals and supplies.

    10. Follow correct policy and procedure for reporting of incidents: staff, residents, etc.
