Medical Technologist - Microbiology jobs in New York
Medical Technologist - Microbiology performs a variety of microbiological procedures in order to cultivate, isolate and identify microorganisms in skin scrapings, exudates, body fluids and surgical specimens. Conducts routine and specialized microbiological procedures, including virological, mycological, bacteriological, and parasitological assays for use in diagnosing and treating disease. Being a Medical Technologist - Microbiology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in microbiological analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Microbiology requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Medical Technologist - Microbiology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. Trusted local care. A network of expertise.GENERAL SUMMARY:
Assists the Laboratory Supervisor in achieving efficient Laboratory operation by performing clinical tests. Supports laboratory testing services by performing specimen collection and processing, quality control and maintenance functions, and results reporting and verification. Participates in training and in-service programs to maintain and upgrade competency at the level required by the Supervisor as procedures are changed or added.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Licensed or eligible (application pending with a limited license in effect) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York. 2. Employees with a limited license must obtain full license within New York State guidelines.
3. Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology (hospital-based formal internship required) OR Bachelor's Degree in related science from an accredited college with subsequent relevant clinical laboratory experience for one year.
4. Degree must include sufficient science and math credits to meet minimum NYSDOH requirements for a Technologist.
5. ASCP, NCA or equivalent certification is highly recommended.
6. Graduate of an accredited MLT Program, who also meets requirement #4 above, the last year of which includes clinical training and a clinical internship, constitutes 6 months of relevant experience.
6. A person hired with these qualifications would be required to be under the supervision of anther MT or a supervisor for the first 6 months of employment.SIGN ON BONUS:

RELOCATION:
