Medical Technologist - Microbiology performs a variety of microbiological procedures in order to cultivate, isolate and identify microorganisms in skin scrapings, exudates, body fluids and surgical specimens. Conducts routine and specialized microbiological procedures, including virological, mycological, bacteriological, and parasitological assays for use in diagnosing and treating disease. Being a Medical Technologist - Microbiology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in microbiological analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Microbiology requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Lake Regional Health System is seeking a professional, detail-orientated Medical Technologist (MT, MLS) Lead Hematology to join our Laboratory Services team who can provide excellent care to our community.
What Are We Looking For?
An individual who has a Bachelor's degree in laboratory science as well as must currently be registered as an MLS (ASCP) or MT (ASCP) or able to become registered within one year of hire. Our Medical Technologist is responsible for all laboratory duties, including but not limited to specimen processing, test performance, reporting results, quality control, and instrument maintenance. This position will be responsible for the hematology section. Lead Technologists includes oversight of all functions of the department, such as managing and reviewing QC and results, assuring instrument maintenance is completed and operating at peak performance, staff training, and competency, troubleshooting issues as they arise. A positive attitude paired with the ability to promote teamwork is highly desired.
