Medical Technologist - Hematology performs a variety of blood tests, studies morphology of blood constituents and performs various coagulation tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Conducts technical procedures related to the counting and identification of blood cells and other specialized hematologic tests. Being a Medical Technologist - Hematology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in blood analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Hematology may perform urinalysis studies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. The Section Led Medical Technologist performs phlebotomy, hematologic, chemical, microscopic, morphologic, immunologic, and microbiological testing in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. The Section Lead Medical Technologist will set up new methodologies and in training lab personnel in the use of instrumentation. The Section Lead will participates in reviewing QC and Peer group date, new reagent and QC validation, and inventory. He or She will participates in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Performance Improvement activities and supports the hospital in meeting Joint Commission and CAP accreditation standards while adhering to CMS billing compliance regulations..
Position Requirements:
A. Education:
Minimum; Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science or Baccalaureate degree in related science in chemistry or human biology with formal medical technology internship.
B. Experience: Three years of clinical laboratory experience or equivalent clinical lab training program.
