Medical Technologist - Hematology performs a variety of blood tests, studies morphology of blood constituents and performs various coagulation tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Conducts technical procedures related to the counting and identification of blood cells and other specialized hematologic tests. Being a Medical Technologist - Hematology verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates, cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in blood analysis and procedures. Additionally, Medical Technologist - Hematology may perform urinalysis studies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Typically requires an American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Medical Technologist - Hematology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The Hematology/Oncology Physician is a key member of the Gila Regional Medical Center (GRMC) Medical Staff Team and of the GRMC workforce. The Hematology/Oncology Physician uses the scope of knowledge required to provide appropriate medical evaluation of each patient, clinical treatment planning and management, and provide follow up care post treatment completion; order and oversee diagnostic testing; prescribe supportive medications; collaborate and leads GRMC caregiver teams to achieve the highest quality of oncology care, treatment, and services.
