Position's Purpose and Essential Functions:

Personnel will perform manual and automated routine blood tests in the Free-standing Emergency Department. Prepares specimens for microscope examination. Operates laboratory equipment including centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of clinical confidence to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment is required. MTs and MLTs are both eligible for part-time or full-time positions. The position requirements for either certified personnel are as follows:

Medical Lab Tech Applicant Job Requirements Include:

Education: 

• Required: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Bachelor’s in The field of science(chemical, physical or biological science) with an on the job training in accordance with CLIA testing personnel requirements 493.1489(b)(2)(ii) or High school diploma or equivalent with a successfully completed a 50 week U.S. military medical laboratory procedure course and held a position in Medical Laboratory Specialist ( Laboratory Technician).

Experience: 

• Preferred: Two years’ experience working in a hospital laboratory.

Licenses/ Certifications: 

• Preferred: Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.

Medical Technologist Applicant Job Requirements Include:

Education:

• Required: Baccalaureate degree in Chemistry ,Biochemistry, Life Science, Applied science degree, or May also meet educational requirements based on required college hours and MLT certification in accordance with CLIA personnel requirements  § 493.1489 .

Experience:

• Preferred: Two (2)years or more experience working in a hospital laboratory.

Licenses / Certificates:

• Preferred: Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
