Medical Technologist (ASCP) jobs in District of Columbia
Medical Technologist (ASCP) performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states. Follows standardized procedures and helps prepare samples for testing. Being a Medical Technologist (ASCP) analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits. Requires a bachelor's degree and must be a certified medical technologist. Additionally, Medical Technologist (ASCP) typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Job Description
As a medical technologist, you'll analyze bodily fluids to check for disease and abnormalities. Working in a hospital, lab, private practice, outpatient center or other healthcare facility, you'll collect blood and/or urine samples, analyze samples, maintain equipment and handle patient data. You'll play a critical role in maintaining sterile conditions, preventing disease and helping patients and providers find answers to various health concerns.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 1 year of recent experience as a medical technologist
- ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB Certification
- BLS Certification (AHA)
- Current state license (if applicable)
