Medical Staff Credentialing Supervisor oversees day-to-day activities of staff that process credentialing and recredentialing applications for health care providers. Implements department procedures to facilitate organized and up-to-date provider databases. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Supervisor administers system for tracking license and certification expirations to ensure renewals are submitted in a timely fashion. Ensures that applications are properly verified and accurately uploaded into an online credentialing database system. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Supervisor resolves complex questions regarding credentialing or provider database maintenance and best practices. Prepares reports on applications and credentialing status to identify trends and improve the credentialing process. May require a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to a manager. The Medical Staff Credentialing Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Job Summary and Qualifications

    SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Reviews application and other data for accuracy and completeness once turned over to MSO from CPC

    o Monitors reappointment list from CPC for accuracy. Monitors reappointment applications and their status with the CPC. Assists CPC as necessary to ensure timely reappointment.

    • Obtains licensure, certification, and insurance certificates at time of reappointment and expiration and maintains in computer database. Also monitors expirables with CPC for compliance.
    • Keeps data entry up to date as required for all providers and will review CPC data entry as needed.
    • Enters accurate data relevant to each applicant in database as needed.
    • Sets up orientation for all new providers.
    • Assists in compliance with corporate policies, accrediting and regulatory agencies.
    • Assists with New application process with CPC/Cactus entry as needed.
    • Assists Director of Medical Staff Services with other miscellaneous duties necessary for efficient departmental operations, including making copies, preparing mailings, attending Medical Staff departmental meetings, preparing minutes of such meetings, etc.
    • Communicates effectively with Staff, Peers, Managers, Physicians, external and internal customers.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required:

    • Proficient in computer skills, excellent written and verbal communications, Detail and accuracy oriented, ability to work independently, strong organization skills, ability to communicate with physicians, administrators and other staff.


    Preferred:

    • Some college
    • Medical staff training/certification.

    • Prior experience in credentialing or at least 2 years in healthcare setting.
