Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. processes credentialing and recredentialing applications for health care providers. Mails, reviews, and verifies credentialing applications. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. loads and maintains provider information in an online credentialing database system. Tracks license and certification expirations for medical staff to ensure timely renewals. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. handles and resolves inquiries regarding credentialing information, process, or status. May provide guidance or expertise to less experienced specialists. Requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Specialist, Sr. typically requires 3-5 years of related experience.   • The Memorial Credentialing Assistant assists in providing administrative support to the Medical Staff Services department. The assistant gathers and maintains information for the department and provides basic information to external sources. The assistant schedules and prepares documentation for department meetings.

    Job Specifications:

    • Provides administrative support related to the credentialing and privileging process for providers
      • Initiates information collection, verification, and documentation process
      • Assist in monitoring information collection; Evaluates submissions and provides follow up as needed
      • Assists in record keeping and documentation
      • Notifies applicant, hospital personnel, and medical staff of action taken in accordance with established policy and procedures
      • Verifies basic information regarding practitioners membership and privilege status
    • Supports the activities of the Medical Staff Services department
      • Prepares agenda and minutes for medical staff meetings
      • Provides routine reports in preparation for meetings

    Required Qualifications:

    Education: High Schol diploma or GED

    Experience: Two (2) years performing administrative tasks in an office setting
