Medical Staff Credentialing Manager manages staff that process credentialing and recredentialing applications for health care providers. Oversees department operations to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Manager implements policies and procedures to ensure that applications are properly verified and accurately uploaded into an online credentialing database system. Analyzes reports on applications and credentialing status to identify trends and improve the credentialing process. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Manager prepares files for the credentialing committee and may act as a liaison to state medical licensure boards regarding the status of license applications. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Typically reports to a director. The Medical Staff Credentialing Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Summary and Qualifications

    • Develop facility credentialing policies in accordance with accreditation/regulatory standards, HCA Healthcare policies, and medical staff bylaws.
    • Facilitate meetings (develop agendas, maintain meeting minutes, coordinate follow-up) for various committees
    • Maintain the official emergency call schedule and records for call compensation payments.
    • Manage correspondence between facility and individual medical staff members, not related to credentialing matters.
    • Collaborate and coordinate with Market Director, on the review of eligibility criteria for each clinical privilege or grouping of clinical privileges that require the same qualifications and competencies.
    • Facilitate the review of requests for clinical privileges using the approved eligibility criteria.
    • Facilitate any required regulatory agency reporting of adverse actions taken against a practitioner’s medical staff membership or clinical privileges, as directed by facility leaders.
    • Complete a summary of FPPE, OPPE, and peer review results for evaluation by medical staff leaders as part of the R-RFC process as noted in 4e above, and ongoing as required by policy.
    • Ensure timely and proper notification of the risk manager regarding possible malpractice or other liability concerns.
    • Coordinate all medical staff disciplinary actions (e.g., formal investigations, professional review actions).

    What qualifications you will need:


    • Bachelor’s degree in medical staff services science, business, or related field of study or an equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
    • Certified Professional Medical Services Management and/or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist preferred.
    • Minimum of 2 years comprehensive credentialing experience in an acute care hospital or CVO setting.
    • Minimum of 1 year supervisory/management experience
