Medical Secretary provides secretarial support to clinical staff. Performs various secretarial and clerical duties, such as typing reports and correspondence, transcribing written notes, maintaining records and files, answering phones, and arranging clinician schedules. Being a Medical Secretary may be responsible for entering clinician charges into medical billing system. Requires knowledge of medical terms and vocabulary. Additionally, Medical Secretary requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Secretary works under moderate supervision. Job Title: Medical Secretary
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Assist legal liaison for Lafayette Bone and Joint Clinic.
2. Helps conduct, prepare, and schedule attorney, rehabilitation conferences, and depositions.
3. Reviews workers’ compensation and attorney correspondences.
4. Add information to our electronic health records.
5. Renewal of all doctors’ licenses.
6. Help address attorney requests and issues.
7. Helps with hospital credentialing for the doctors.
8. Runs errands and takes care of personal requests for the doctors when needed.
9. Occasionally will back up Medical Records.
10. Visit Attorney and Doctor offices.
11. Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Experience: Minimum one year of administrative experience, preferred a secretarial experience in a health care setting.
