Requests, follow up and secure prior-authorizations prior to services being performed. Demonstrates and apply knowledge of medical terminology, high proficiency of general medical office procedures including HIPAA regulations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Contacts insurance carriers to verify patient’s insurance eligibility, benefits andrequirements. Requests, track and obtain pre-authorization from insurance carriers within time allotted for medical needs and services. Requests, follow up and secure prior-authorizations prior to services being performed. Demonstrates and apply knowledge of medical terminology, high proficiency of general medical office procedures including HIPAA regulations. Communicates any insurance changes or trends among team. Maintains a level of productivity suitable for Imaging Services. Clearly documents all communications and contacts with providers and personnel in standardized documentation requirements, including proper format. Admits patients; effectively explains the admission paper work and obtains all necessary signatures.Updates patient demographic information as needed. Aids customers who visit and/or phone the department by scheduling appointments, providing appropriate information, etc. Verifies that we have order for exam and correct insurance information. Prepares and completes discharge paperwork. Maintains a complete and accurate medical record for the service line. Answers the telephone, takes messages or transfers calls as appropriate. Performs clerical support functions and monitors schedules for departments, physicians and staff. Monitors office for efficiency, appropriate supplies, materials, equipment, etc. Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI). Serves a population age seventeen through geriatric. Update patients/family members on exam wait times. Attend and complete all mandatory meetings and in-services, as well as assigned continuing education MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Working knowledge of various computer programs (Word, Excel). Working knowledge of office equipment, i.e. copier, fax machine, etc. Medical terminology. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR). PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: N/A LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Healthcare Provider BLS through AHA or ARC before start date.
