Medical Records Transcriptionist transcribes medical dictation by physicians and other medical practitioners pertaining to patients assessment, diagnostics, therapy, and other medical reports. Understands medical terminology and the use of transcription software and equipment. Being a Medical Records Transcriptionist requires a high school diploma. May require Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS). Additionally, Medical Records Transcriptionist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Transcriptionist works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Responsibilities :
A Day in the life of a Transcriptionist :
As a Transcriptionist will handle data management tasks for the physician. Must be able to apply knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology to the transcription of proofreading of medical dictation from originators. Transcribes physician dictation to include notes, letters, history and physical reports, hospital dismissals/interval notes, sign-out lists, and other physician correspondence or typing a requested. Clarifies dictation that is unclear or incomplete, seeking assistance when necessary.
Requirements for the Transcriptionist :
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent required
- Required: Previous medical transcription experience
- Required: Clinical/healthcare experience
- Required: Ability to pass Background Check and Drug Screen
- Required: Typing at least 60 wpm
- Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Required: Must be willing to travel to various clinic locations as needed
- Preferred: Clinical/healthcare experience in ortho preferred
- Preferred: NextGen or EMR experience is a plus
- $17-19/hr
- Weekly Pay
- OFF WEEKENDS FOR THIS POSITION!
