Medical Records Transcriptionist jobs in Mcallen, TX
Medical Records Transcriptionist transcribes medical dictation by physicians and other medical practitioners pertaining to patients assessment, diagnostics, therapy, and other medical reports. Understands medical terminology and the use of transcription software and equipment. Being a Medical Records Transcriptionist requires a high school diploma. May require Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS). Additionally, Medical Records Transcriptionist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Transcriptionist works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs medical transcription services for physician dictation for different patient reports, i.e., History and Physicals, Consultations, Operative, Progress Notes and Discharge Summary reports. Responsible for interacting with physicians, hospital staff and ancillary departments regarding the accuracy of transcribed reports. Routinely rotates weekends with other transcription staff.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. One year experience as medical transcriptionist is required.
2. Type at least 60 words per minute.
3. Medical terminology is required.
4. Ability to utilize dictation and transcription equipment.
5. Use of good grammar and punctuation.
6. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer
EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
1. High School diploma, GED or Higher Educaion required.
2. Medical Transcription certificate preferred.
