Full-time: 40hrs/week
Hours: 8am - 4:30pm with Weekend and Holiday rotation
General Summary
Collects, analyzes and processes patient medical information to ensure the integrity, completeness and accuracy of the electronic medical record and prepares monthly reports for department manager. Assists in the medical staff suspension process in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Collects, compiles & analyzes data for physician credentialing- including history and physical and operative report documentation in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws. Prepares monthly compliance rate report for department manager. Corresponds with the medical staff, if needed, regarding non-compliance.
- Assists department manager with compiling department productivity measures and performance improvement initiatives utilizing Lean principles. Monitors workflow and serves as key contact person in manager's absence.
- Assists with the analysis of medical records and assignment of deficiencies in accordance with regulatory and accreditation requirements and the Rules and Regulations set forth by the Medical Staff. Communicates with provider offices and hospital departments as needed to ensure timely completion of the medical record. Maintains integrity of the chart completion system by assisting in the provider suspension notification process in accordance with established procedure, assuring compliance with the Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff. Protects the security of the medical record and respects and maintains the confidentiality of the information
- Serves as key contact person for provider education of medical record rules and regulations. Manages the rejections in the electronic medical record. Interacts with appropriate clinical applications staff to resolve complex physician order issues in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Sets up and maintains files and records on the shared drive and/or Health Information Management (HIM) portal which may contain confidential information at the direction of the department manager. Enters and/or retrieves data & runs any necessary medical record statistical reports and compiles the data in appropriate spreadsheets and graphics for routine departmental reporting.
- Monitors and assists as needed with the prepping and scanning of records and the forms approval process.
- Provides education as needed for the Medical Records Specialists.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
- 2 years Health Information Management experience. Required
Licenses:
- Registered Health Information Technician Upon Hire Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products.
- Requires an intermediate degree of technical and communication/interpersonal skills, knowledge and ability.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task is a must.
