Medical Records Technician abstracts clinical information from medical records and assigns the appropriate ICD or CPT codes using industry-standard coding guidelines. Assigns required DRG (diagnosis-related grouping) codes. Being a Medical Records Technician works with coding databases and software to input and maintain data according to standard procedures. Performs quality audits of work. Additionally, Medical Records Technician maintains and up-to-date knowledge of coding and documentation requirements. Does not require a medical coding certification. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.     Our Medical Records Technicians are given company laptops and portable scanners to travel to various medical facilities and hospitals to scan patient medical records.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Maintain a record system for patient information and gathering documents
    • Ensure medical records are organized, accurate, and complete
    • Create digital copies of paperwork and store records electronically
    • File paperwork/reports quickly and accurately
    • Ensure HIPAA standards
    • Use electronic system to properly collect, organize and manage data
    • Follow all confidentiality guidelines, rules, and procedures
    • Interact with medical staff, healthcare providers, and other medical personnel
    Pay Rate:
    • $18-21 Per Hour or $3 per record.
    • Paid semi-monthly based on total hours worked or total records retrieved during the work period (whichever is higher)
    • Paid mileage
    • Reimbursement for some travel expenses
    • Paid $50 (daily) Food Allowance, when traveling out of state
    • Paid Flight Hotel Rental (if required)
    Qualifications:
    • Valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle record
    • Have a car and active insurance in their name (Candidates must provide Registration documentation)
    • Internet access at home
    • Willing to drive up to 80 miles or more
    • Basic PC and office equipment skills
    • Knowledge of file copying, sharing, and transfer
    • Intermediate knowledge of medical chart structure, content, and medical terminologies
    *This position is seasonal, part to full-time, with the possibility of extension based on project needs
