Medical Records Research Coordinator is responsible for organizing and overseeing the record keeping activities pertaining to releasing and retrieving medical records for research projects. Ensures all medical records are tracked and released according to HIPAA guidelines. Being a Medical Records Research Coordinator may require an associate degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Records Research Coordinator possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. ```Duties``` - Organize and maintain medical records in accordance with established procedures and guidelines - Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of all medical records - Retrieve and file medical records as needed for patient appointments and other requests - Assist healthcare providers in locating and accessing patient information as required - Review medical records for accuracy and completeness, identifying any missing or incomplete documentation - Enter and update patient information in electronic health record systems - Prepare medical records for release to authorized individuals or organizations - Follow HIPAA regulations and other applicable laws regarding the handling of medical records ```Qualifications``` - High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred - Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is highly desirable - Familiarity with medical terminology and understanding of basic medical procedures and diagnoses - Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and other relevant software applications - Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills - Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion - Effective communication skills, both written and verbal - Ability to work independently and as part of a team Note: This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position.
