Medical Records Director directs medical record-keeping operations and healthcare information management to ensure secure, accurate, and reliable patient information management that complies with data and privacy regulations. Develops policies and procedures and conducts continuous improvement activities to ensure effective and compliant record management. Being a Medical Records Director implements digital technologies and tools to gain efficiencies, facilitate record retrieval, and ensure secure storage. Provides training for medical records staff and information resources to end-users. Additionally, Medical Records Director coordinates with clinical and technical professionals to maintain robust records management systems and manage data for analysis and reporting. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, a related field, or equivalent. May require Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification. Typically reports to a director. The Medical Records Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Medical Records Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Rate of Pay:
    $ 17.00-$19.00 per hour


    Schedule:
    Full-Time, Monday-Friday


    Responsibilities:

    • Processes medical records requests in accordance with the internal department policies and procedures; prepares and quality controls documents to ensure HIPAA compliance; updates requests’ status and other relevant details in assigned database system(s).
    • Releases confidential Protected Health Information (PHI) to patients, physicians, other health care facilities, and government entities as appropriate; ensures release is in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and internal departmental policies and procedures.
    • Interacts with patients and authorized third parties using various communication methods; attempts to resolve patient and/or third-party concerns; escalates complex or otherwise unresolved issues to supervisor.
    • Completes assigned requests on time and meets weekly and monthly production goals.
    • Maintains HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of information.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Exceptional organizational, attention to detail, and time management skills.
    • Strong customer service skills.
    • Strong experience using Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
    • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
    • Ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute.
    • Capability to follow HIPAA guidelines relative to sensitive document handling and destruction.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Recent office experience desired.
    • Experience in the medical field highly desired; recent experience in a medical office strongly preferred.
