Medical Records Coding Manager supervises and trains a team of medical coders to ensure medical records are coded with accuracy and completeness. Ensures medical records coding operations follow the latest guidelines and compliance standards. Being a Medical Records Coding Manager maintains required documentation and confidentiality of patient records. Implements processes for coding operations that support the needs of other healthcare partners. Additionally, Medical Records Coding Manager develops and maintains up-to-date knowledge of the latest ICD and CPT coding versions and ensures coders receive updates and training on classification or guideline changes. Is a certified medical coder and the exact type of coding certification may vary based on the clinical setting or a medical specialty focus. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, a related field, or equivalent. Depending on the setting typically requires the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification. May additionally have the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Medical Records Coding Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions.     Full-time Medical Coding Manager. This is a hybrid position that will be able to work on site and remotely within the same week. Normal working hours are 8:00-5:00, hours could vary based on the needs of the department.
    Salary is based on experience.
    Full-time positions are eligible for full benefits, including insurance, 148 PTO hours per year, 56 hours of paid Holidays per year including the day after Thanksgiving, and an Employee Retirement Plan (401K) with employer match. Tuition reimbursement and a grow our own Medical Assistant Program.
    Job Description:

    The Medical Coding Manager will be responsible for overseeing the coding department and ensuring that all coding is accurate and up to date. They will manage a team of coders and work closely with other departments to ensure that coding is consistent across the organization. The Coding Manager will also be responsible for staying up-to-date on coding regulations and guidelines and ensuring that the department is in compliance.

    Responsibilities:

    • The Medical Coding Manager will oversee the coding department and ensure that all coding is accurate and up-to-date
    • Will manage a team of coders and provide guidance and support as needed
    • Will work closely with other departments to ensure that coding is consistent across the organization
    • Will stay up-to-date on coding regulations and guidelines and ensure that the department is in compliance
    • Develop and implement coding policies and procedures
    • Train new coders and provide ongoing training to existing coders.
    • Perform regular audits to ensure coding accuracy.
    • Provide reports and analysis on coding trends and issues.
    • Build relationships with providers and reporting employees.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred
    • The Medical Coding Manager will need a Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical coding
    • 2-5 years' experience managing a team of health care professionals.
    • Strong knowledge of coding regulations and guidelines
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
