Digestive Care Center is seeking a Medical Records Clerk for our Newburgh Office. The clerk performs administrative and clerical duties related to the daily operations of the medical records department.
What You Need for this Position:
- High school Diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical office experience preferred.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Scans correspondence, medical records and other materials received by department to determine subject matter.
- Processes documents by sorting, filing or distributing the documents.
- Monitors documents received on fax machine and Gmed and distributes or files documents accordingly.
- Processes medical records releases in accordance with laws and regulations related to confidentiality of medical records.
- Fulfills requests for patient charts by locating/pulling charts, reviewing charts for completeness and proper organization, and delivering them to the individuals requesting them.
- Compiles, organizes, assembles and prepares patient charts. Files and re-files charts on a daily basis.
- Makes daily deliveries of mail to the USPS drop box and distributes mail.
- Responds to incoming medical records requests as calls are received.
- Promptly returns calls from voice mail.
- Processed video capsules and manometries as needed.
