Job Details
We are looking for an eager candidate early in their career that has strong attention to detail and an interest in learning about the optical industry. As a Lab Technician in the Tint Department, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the visual experience of our customers by applying tints to lenses. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. this position will also have responsibilities in the Finish department assisting with mounting, edging, polishing, and cleaning lenses. The lab technician will be trained to fill-in positions when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Tinting Operations: Execute the tinting process for eyewear lenses with precision and consistency, ensuring adherence to quality standards and customer specifications.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain tinting equipment, including tinting machines, baths, and related tools. Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance as needed.
- Color Matching: Accurately match and apply tint colors according to customer preferences and prescription requirements, maintaining a high level of color consistency.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality checks on tinted lenses to identify and rectify any defects or discrepancies. Ensure all finished products meet or exceed quality standards.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of tinting processes, including color formulas, production volumes, and quality control measures.
- Equipment Operation: Operate optical equipment including manual and auto lensometers and automatic frame tracers.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other lab technicians and team members to optimize workflow and ensure the final product meets the customer’s visual and aesthetic needs.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional optical technician training or certification is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Optical Lab Technician, with specific expertise in tinting operations.
- Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of tinting equipment, color theory, and optical lab processes.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and good hand-eye coordination and color perception.
- Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organization and time-management skills to ensure efficient workflow.
- Quality-Oriented: Commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards in all aspects of the job.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work an 8-hour day shift beginning at 8:00am.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.50 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
