Medical Interpreter conducts medical and general interpreting for staff, patients, and their families. Assesses and monitors patients' understanding of information conveyed. Being a Medical Interpreter advises medical personnel about any cultural issues that might impact patient care. Records and monitors interpretation activities according to hospital and department standards. Additionally, Medical Interpreter may be required to translate written documents. Requires familiarity with medical terminology. Requires fluency in one or more languages in addition to English. May require an associate degree or equivalent. May require Translation certificate. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Interpreter works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. from English into Chinese to be part of our growing Teams.
The linguist will provide simultaneous and/or consecutive translation, ensuring
that:
- target text correctly reflects the
meaning of the source
- high-grammatical accuracy while
maintaining key terminology, spotting inconsistencies and incorrect cultural
references
- a good quality audio (in case of
RSI)
Main requirements:
- Degree in Translation, Applied Linguistics,
Interpreting, or equivalent experience
- Native speaker in one of the languages
involved
- Excellent command of the English language in
both comprehension and writing
- Linguistic and cultural competences of both
source and target language
- Adaptive to fast-paced work
environment with multiple changes of project priorities
- Ability to maintain professionalism under
pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Problem solving and decision-making skills
- Experience with simultaneous & consecutive
interpreting service
- Experience with Interpretation systems
