Medical Interpreter conducts medical and general interpreting for staff, patients, and their families. Assesses and monitors patients' understanding of information conveyed. Being a Medical Interpreter advises medical personnel about any cultural issues that might impact patient care. Records and monitors interpretation activities according to hospital and department standards. Additionally, Medical Interpreter may be required to translate written documents. Requires familiarity with medical terminology. Requires fluency in one or more languages in addition to English. May require an associate degree or equivalent. May require Translation certificate. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Interpreter works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and evolving language usage.
    • Bachelor's degree in translation, interpretation, linguistics, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in English and Spanish
    • Proven experience as a Translator/Interpreter, with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
    • Proficiency in both source and target languages, with strong linguistic and cultural understanding.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficient in the use of translation and interpretation tools, software, and resources.
    • Flexibility to work in various settings and adapt to different language requirements.
    • Professional certification or accreditation in translation/interpretation is a plus.
