Medical Interpreter conducts medical and general interpreting for staff, patients, and their families. Assesses and monitors patients' understanding of information conveyed. Being a Medical Interpreter advises medical personnel about any cultural issues that might impact patient care. Records and monitors interpretation activities according to hospital and department standards. Additionally, Medical Interpreter may be required to translate written documents. Requires familiarity with medical terminology. Requires fluency in one or more languages in addition to English. May require an associate degree or equivalent. May require Translation certificate. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Interpreter works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     The Chinese Interpreter will provide language support between US based workers and international visitors working at the bicycle assembly factories in Clarendon County, SC.

    Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Interpret between English and Chinese (Mandarin).
    • Maintain the appropriate tone of voice while observing cultural nuances
    • Maintain professionalism through attitude and interpreting service standards
    • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
    • Respond to the interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner. • Render correct concepts and meanings according to the conventions of established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.

    Qualifications:

    • Proficient in English and Chinese (Mandarin)
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills
    • Flexible availability
    • Excellent listening, retention and note-taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation
    • Demonstrate outstanding listening, analytical and short-term memory skills.
