Medical Interpreter conducts medical and general interpreting for staff, patients, and their families. Assesses and monitors patients' understanding of information conveyed. Being a Medical Interpreter advises medical personnel about any cultural issues that might impact patient care. Records and monitors interpretation activities according to hospital and department standards. Additionally, Medical Interpreter may be required to translate written documents. Requires familiarity with medical terminology. Requires fluency in one or more languages in addition to English. May require an associate degree or equivalent. May require Translation certificate. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Interpreter works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. As an Korean-English Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between individuals who speak in English and Korean. Your expertise will be utilized in various settings, including social work, offices, and other business related services. Duties:
- Provide interpretation services to assist individuals who do not speak the same language
- Interpret conversations, interviews, meetings, and other interactions accurately and impartially
- Translate written materials such as medical records, documentation, and reports
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations when handling sensitive information
- Review and analyze documents for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with cultural mediation to ensure effective communication between parties
- Collaborate with professionals, social workers, and other personnel to facilitate understanding
Requirements:
- Fluency in English and Korean
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages
- Experience in Business is preferred, not required
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals
- Familiarity with child protective services or social work is a plus
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Attention to detail and accuracy in interpreting and translating
- Flexibility to adapt to different environments and situations
