Medical Esthetician delivers skin care treatments and provides consultations with makeup applications and purchases. Performs procedures such as skin evaluation, facial massages, and hair removal. Being a Medical Esthetician supports dermatologists and plastic surgeons on patients preoperative and postoperative exams. May require an associate degree. Responsibilities /Duties/Functions/Tasks.
· Process insurance denials received by phone dispute, written appeal, or corrected claim.
· May perform “soft” collections for patient past due accounts. This may include contacting and notifying patients via phone or mail.
· Understands managed care authorizations and limits to coverage such as the number of visits. This is encountered often when billing for specialties.
· Review payer rules to understand reason for denial.
· Monitor daily billing processes.
· Provide billing expertise for specific physician processes.
· Compose correspondence to payer regarding payment disputes and/or appeals.
· Interpret progress notes, operative reports, discharge summaries and charge documents to determine services provided.
· Communicate with patients to verify correct demographics and coordination of benefits on denied claims; Refile claims as needed.
· Refer complex issues to the supervisor for review and or action.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· Post insurance and patients and manage accounts.
· Answer patient inquiries on account status and charges.
· Reports to AMS Billing Coordinator and provider office manager.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills are required.
- MS Office experience, particularly in MS Word and MS Excel
- Ability to type at least 30 wpm
- Prior appeals experience electronically and ability to obtain claim status.
- Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented
- Basic understanding of healthcare plans
- Be able to read and understand medical benefits.
- Bilingual is a plus.
- Medical terminology (CPT, ICD 10) knowledge
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school Diploma or GED
- Medical Collections 1-2 years (Required)
-Medical Billing Certificate (Preferred)
