Medical Device Lab Technician works in a laboratory setting, producing medical devices such as prosthetics or orthotics, implants, or other devices. Configures and constructs devices to specifications established by a physician or other health care provider. Being a Medical Device Lab Technician utilizes tools and precision instruments to result in customized fit, optimal function, and maximum comfort for the patient. Disassembles, repairs, and reassembles defective or worn devices or appliances. Additionally, Medical Device Lab Technician works closely with the Orthotist or Prosthetist. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Device Lab Technician works under moderate supervision. Position Summary
An MLT I performs various quantitative and qualitative clinical laboratory studies to comply with physician requests for analyses of various blood, body fluids and tissues, in order to provide data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. A MLT I must follow established laboratory standards, practices, and procedures. Understands and complies with the Behavior Standards and department policies, procedures and regulations.
