Medical Device Lab Technician jobs in Portland, OR

Medical Device Lab Technician works in a laboratory setting, producing medical devices such as prosthetics or orthotics, implants, or other devices. Configures and constructs devices to specifications established by a physician or other health care provider. Being a Medical Device Lab Technician utilizes tools and precision instruments to result in customized fit, optimal function, and maximum comfort for the patient. Disassembles, repairs, and reassembles defective or worn devices or appliances. Additionally, Medical Device Lab Technician works closely with the Orthotist or Prosthetist. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Medical Device Lab Technician works under moderate supervision.   • LabCorp is seeking a Medical Lab Technician to join our team in Portland, OR. This role works in a high volume, production-based environment performing a vital component of clinical lab science.


    Schedule: 3rd Shift, Monday - Friday 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM with rotating weekend

    Job Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
    • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
    • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
    • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
    • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
    • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
    • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
    • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
    • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
    • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

    Job Requirements:

    • An Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent preferred w/1-3 years of experience but will train.
    • ASCP or AMT certification preferred
    • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
    • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
    • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
    • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
    • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
