Lol We are searching for a unicorn of a person to join our team, who wants to do the important work of fighting for our therapists to get paid for the meaningful work they do. Unicorn Medical Billing Specialist Assistant Responsibilities:

• In charge of performing support tasks to maintain smooth billing operations
• Assist billing department in Credentialing and Billing tasks- including but not limited to the following:
• Process payer enrollment applications for therapists for insurances.
• Complete timely follow up on all applications.
• Maintain therapist profiles and NPI’s, CAQH and internal spreadsheets.
• Help ensure that re-credentialing is complete timely to prevent any lapse in enrollment.
• Monitor and maintain current documents (licenses, malpractice insurance).
• Verify coverage and eligibility for medical services
• Post charges and payments to correct accounts
• Obtain pre-authorization for procedures, as needed and track.
• Communicate with insurance providers, therapists, and clients
• Maintaining billing software by updating rate change, cash spreadsheets, and current collection reports.
• Review patient bills and correct any missing or inaccurate information
• Use billing software to prepare and submit claims
• Collect unpaid claims and clear up discrepancies by telephone, fax or email communication
• Use of insurance carrier portals for eligibility and claims information
• Complete data entry to update spreadsheets and reports
• Assist with internal and external collections

Required Skills:

• Competent use of computer systems, software and EHR’s.
• Effective communication skills
• Exceptional Customer Service skills for interacting with patients regarding medical claims and payments, including communication with patients and family members
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Ability to triage priorities and handle conflict in a reasonable fashion
• Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, collections
• Willing to learn more about CPT codes, HIPAA, insurance credentialing, etc…
• Ability to multitask
