Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the preparation of medical bills and invoices, the calculation of provider charges, and verification of patient insurance. Maintains insurance documents and contracts. Being a Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the submission of claim reports and filing procedures. Ensures billing operations are performed in an accurate and timely manner. Additionally, Medical Billing Supervisor evaluates billing processes and procedures and assists management in developing revisions. Monitors the revenue cycle activities and resolves any issues. Needs to be familiar with ICD-10, CPT, and/or HCPCS Coding Systems as well as claim forms such as CMS-1500 and UB-04. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Medical Billing Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.     Certified Coder II

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    Principle responsibility for the Certified Coder II is the review of multi-specialty surgical procedures from the electronic medical record and assigning the appropriate CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS II and modifiers based on documentation and payer requirements. The Certified Medical Coder II primary accountability is to the Coding Manager.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    · Perform surgical coding and related duties in an accurate and timely manner

    • Coding of multiple surgical cases in areas of General Surgery, Bariatric, Breast, Cardiovascular, Colorectal, Endocrine, Hepatobiliary, Pediatric, Thoracic, Trauma, Transplant and Vascular
    • Assign CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS II and modifiers based on documentation and payer requirements
    • Maintain adequate knowledge of coding, compliance, and reimbursement procedures.
    • Review current literature, newsletters, payer policy updates and coding manuals
    • Demonstrate a commitment to integrating coding compliance standards into daily coding practices. Identify, correct, and report coding problems
    • Resolve coding edits and denials in a timely manner. Identify opportunities to reduce denials and enhance revenue
    • Maintain coding certification

    MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • 2-5 years’ experience in coding multi-specialty surgeries
    • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision
    • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology

    · Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Products

    • Coding certification required, at a minimum level of Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
    • Only certified/qualified candidates will be considered for this position.

    Hours during training are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

    Remote work at home opportunities available after probationary period but must reside locally (RI or MA)

    AAPC Membership paid for by the company, along with all coding books and coding materials.
