Knowledge and Abilities:
- Healthcare Billing experience is preferred, including but not limited to: billing for individual and group services, preparation, and submission of third-party payer claims, collections, HIPAA, and CMS guidelines.
- General accounting experience is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree in a financial field is preferred.
- Must have proficient computer skills including strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess data entry and word processing skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Conducts self in a professional manner, working to solve problems and find new ways
to improve and implement efficiencies within the organization. - Maintains confidentiality with all information regarding our clients and their families.
- Ability to give superior customer service and effectively answer questions.
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and know when to escalate issues.
- Ability to meet agency's conditions of employment regarding health status and clearance with the Nebraska Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry and/or Adult Abuse/Neglect Registry and the Nebraska State Patrol.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Verifies time, performs data entry, and submits claims timely using appropriate billing methods for all services billed directly by CRCC, while adhering to specific guidelines for each.
- Provides support to the Billing Team to monitor work performed by outsourced billing partners, ensuring claims are timely and appropriately filed and accounts receivable, denials, and non-payments are managed.
- Assists the Admissions Team in obtaining payer information and verifies eligibility of coverage for all clients at the start of services, monthly for Medicaid clients, and at least quarterly for other clients. Tracks and confirms all authorizations are up to date and accurate and works with Admissions Team to update authorizations as needed.
- Assists with the submission of appeals on denied claims within the required time limits.
- Assists with the initiation of accurate and timely posting of payment information, resolves denials and/or non-payments, and re-files after correction(s) have been made.
- Works proactively with clients to establish payment plans and assists with the collections process.
- Assists accounting with reconciliation of billing systems and related administrative tasks.
- Helps implement and apply billing procedures and policies.
- Stays current on electronic billing and web-based claims information technology used by payers to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
- Maintains appropriate documentation and client records.
