TOP ESSENTAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interviews patients and explains procedures. Obtains a pertinent exam history (including symptoms / reasons for exam, medical conditions, allergies, medications, related exams, and surgeries. Verifies two patient identifiers.
• Confirms scheduled exam and requesting physician are consistent with order.
• Positions patients on the procedure table and places sponges to ensure patient comfort and ease of access for procedure. Ability to assist/lift/transfer patients.
• Obtains IV access with appropriate size catheter for injections as needed (exam specific).
• Obtains previous reports and CD’s from other facilities, hospitals, and Doctor’s offices that pertain to the exam being done.
• Utilizes the electronic medical record (Royal and RIS), front-office scanning, and PACS to document and move patient records through the electronic system.
• Prepare equipment and examination rooms and clean instruments and equipment.
• Stock US room and prep room with appropriate supplies (avoiding overstock of any one item).
• Maintains annual certification in BLS and bloodborne pathogens.
• Complete laundry as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a medical assistant training program or relevant clinical experience in the field
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• BLS certification
