Medical Assistant assists in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records or inputs information to patients' medical records. Being a Medical Assistant prepares treatment rooms for the examination of patients. May draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Additionally, Medical Assistant may perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and scheduling appointments. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RCA) certification. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Medical Assistant works under moderate supervision.     Job Description:
    As a Medical Assistant in Eden, TX, you will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers and delivering high-quality patient care in a clinical setting. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient examinations, performing basic medical procedures, and ensuring the smooth flow of clinical operations. This position requires a compassionate and detail-oriented individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.

    Responsibilities:

    • Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for medical examinations.
    • Obtain and record vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints accurately.
    • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
    • Provide patient education on medication instructions, diet, exercise, and preventive healthcare measures as directed by the provider.
    • Perform basic medical procedures such as venipuncture, specimen collection, and EKGs.
    • Prepare and administer medications under the direction of a licensed healthcare provider.
    • Assist with minor surgical procedures and wound care as needed.
    • Maintain sterile technique and infection control practices during clinical procedures.
    • Document patient encounters, procedures, and treatment plans accurately in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts.
    • Ensure all patient records are complete, organized, and compliant with regulatory standards.
    • Assist with medical coding and billing tasks as necessary, including verifying insurance coverage and processing claims.
    • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of medical equipment and instruments.
    • Ensure that all medical supplies and equipment are stocked, organized, and readily available for use.
    • Follow protocols for cleaning and disinfecting exam rooms and equipment between patient visits.
    • Schedule patient appointments, tests, and procedures as directed by healthcare providers.
    • Answer phones, greet patients, and provide assistance with registration and check-in processes.
    • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents.

    Requirements:

    • Completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution.
    • Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant preferred but not required.
    • CPR certification required.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
    • Proficiency in computer skills and experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
    • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a dynamic healthcare environment.
