MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Marketing, Business Administration, Management or related field
• Or in lieu of bachelor’s degree, a High School diploma or GED and four (4) years relevant training in accounting, marketing, business administration or related field

Experience

• A minimum of four (4) years’ experience in auditing, inventory control, sales administration, financial services or a related area to include four (4) years of Fare Media Sales and Customer Service

Certification/Licensure

• None

Preferred

• Experience training and supervising staff

SUMMARY

The Supervisor, Fare Media Services provides administrative support and supervisory oversight to Fare Media Services operations and staff with latitude for independent judgement and action within established policy, regulations and guidelines. The Supervisor, Fare Media Services develops, plans and coordinates activities within the department to include maintaining adequate fare media stock inventories, efficient distribution, ensuring sales outlets are properly served, directs Metrorail redemption, and maintains custody of the Authority's Imprest funds. The incumbent reports directly to the Manager of Fare Media Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Supervises, evaluates and trains personnel and activities of fare media services at the Revenue Collection Facility (RCF) and Metro Center Sales Office and other locations as assigned. To ensure FMS staff and operation are fully compliant with WMATA established guidelines.
• Develops and directs internal inventory controls to ensure proper levels are maintained and stock is distributed according to internal/external customer demand and business needs. Maintains appropriate standards and fiduciary oversight for revenue sensitive areas to prevent internal fraud, theft and manipulation while maintaining accurate and adequate inventory.
• Reviews, approves and monitors customer refunds and Bulk Sales transactions to exercise dual control and ensure transactions are properly documented and reconciled.
• Assists and responds to customer inquiries and complaints regarding SmarTrip card failures, refunds, and distribution, delivers excellent customer service, meets the Authority goal of quality service and ensures inquires/complaints are resolved in a timely manner.
• Analyses and forecast inventory demand based on business need, sales activity, major events and special orders to ensure availability of adequate fare media stock meet projected sales.
• Measures employee development and performance. Complaints and grievances are discussed with employees and/or union representatives. This is done to ensure contractual unionized agreements between Local 689, Local 2 and WMATA are met.
• Works variable hours and locations and covers other duties as assigned. This is done to ensure adequate staff coverage, provide quality customer services and to meet operation requirements and deadlines.
