Media Relations Manager develops and implements policies and procedures for the relations between the media and the organization. Works to expand understanding of the organization's business, performance, and strategy. Being a Media Relations Manager prepares summaries of media activity for senior management. May serve as the company's spokesperson. Additionally, Media Relations Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Media Relations Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Media Relations Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. The Intern – Media Relations will have the opportunity to work as a member of the Communications, Media, and PR functions of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club. This position will be directly involved in baseball communications, supporting logistics and day to day communications across the Club. Additional responsibilities will include print, publications and other duties as assigned. The duration of this paid internship from March through December, averaging 40 hours/week and is eligible for medical benefits.
Core duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
Must be recently graduated from an accredited college or university, having pursued a degree or course work related to the functions of the position. Examples include: Broadcasting, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Sport Management, etc. Previous experience working in professional sports or college environment in a media relations or sports information role is preferred.
