Media Production Manager jobs in Santa Cruz, CA

Media Production Manager manages the planning and execution of the pre-production, production, and post-production stages of television or web broadcasts, shows or videos. Ensures pre-production processes, including ideation, concept creation, casting, script writing, budgeting, specifications, and scheduling are completed. Being a Media Production Manager engages and organizes the technical and logistical resources required for each production. Coordinates the team of production technical specialists for camera, sound, and lighting for each production. Additionally, Media Production Manager facilitates post-production editing operations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Media Production Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Media Production Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach astandardfive-credit course is $8,282 - $10,186 (based on salary points 1-8), please see the UCSC Salary Scales and refer to the Non-senate Instructional (NSI) Unit 18 Pre-six Lecturer Academic Year salary scale. Instructional Workload Credit (IWC) valuation may vary, and the course salary will be adjusted accordingly. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year (see Summer Session Faculty and Lecturer Pay).
    Percent time: Variable, based on the course load assigned.
    Anticipated start: Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2023 through fall quarter 2024. Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment.
    Position duration: Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.

    The Film and Digital Media Department (FDM) at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach film and video production courses in the program.

    Qualified applicants with university-level teaching experience and/or who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the FDM undergraduate and graduate programs (Ph.D. and Social Documentation M.F.A) are strongly encouraged to apply.

    Qualifications
    Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
    • M.F.A. (or equivalent foreign degree) in film, art, or similar creative practice field of study; OR a demonstrated record of creative work as evidenced by a record of exhibition in museums, galleries, film and new media festivals, public television or other venues.
    • Teaching experience.
