Media Production Director oversees and plans the pre-production, production, and post-production stages of television or web shows, broadcasts, or videos. Completes pre-production processes, including ideation, concept creation, casting, script writing, budgeting, specifications, and scheduling. Being a Media Production Director defines and organizes the technical and logistical resources required for each production. Assembles the required team of production specialists for each production's camera, sound, lighting, and other functions. Additionally, Media Production Director directs post-production editing operations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Media Production Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Media Production Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. The Flynn is a multi-disciplinary performing arts center, maintaining a robust schedule of a diverse variety of shows. The Director of Production will support Flynn-presented touring productions; shows and events from external rental clients; and Flynn-produced work, including the annual Burlington Discover Jazz Festival, Playing Fields, and other work both on and off site.
Direct administrative and functional supervision of production personnel including: Production Managers, Stage Managers, and all IATSE union employees, including regular House Electrician, House Carpenter, House Properties Head, and House Sound Head.
Reports to the General Manager.
