Job Summary
Savage Engineering (http://www.savagepress.com) is seeking skilled Mechanical / Heavy Equipment Technicians / Machine Builders to help contribute to the building of hydraulic presses and heavy machinery. We make custom engineered machinery, so each project is different and supports manufacturing in diverse industries including automotive, medical device, power generation, military applications and munitions, railroad, and oil / gas to name a few.
Responsibilities and Duties
Job Duties:
-Fabricate and assemble subsystems of a hydraulic press including hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical.
-Welding and grinding of metal frames, drilling and tapping holes to mount hydraulic components and lines, fabricating fittings to route them to power systems and motors.
-Perform mechanical assembly and fabrication of system enclosures, bracketry, safety systems.
-Build mounts for hydraulic plumbing, electrical sensor and operator controls systems. Route tubing and conduit to hydraulic pumps & reservoirs and to the electrical distribution cabinet.
-Inspect, calibrate, test, or otherwise prepare components for assembly. Work on machine startup and troubleshooting. Support engineering design and programming changes.
Qualifications and Skills
Commonly used skills:
-Mechanical assembly using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and power tools.
-Reading blueprints - the ability to read electrical, previous build photographs, mechanical drawings, etc.
-Crane operation and forklifting
-Pipe and bending, mounting hydraulic and electrical lines, sensors
-Painting - surface prep and spraying
Education:
-High School Diploma / GED required
-AS / trades / certifications a plus.
