Mechanical Engineering Technician assists mechanical engineers in the planning and testing of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery, such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc. Helps prepare proposals and cost estimates. Estimates work load to establish completion dates. Being a Mechanical Engineering Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Mechanical Engineering Technician may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. This individual will be an excellent fabricator, have a high mechanical aptitude and be skilled with a variety of hand and power tools. We prefer someone who sees themselves as a team player with a positive “do-it-yourself” attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Fabrication and production in support of engineering efforts daily
- Janitorial support, machine shop maintenance and grounds keeping
- Maintaining a clean and well organized work environment
- Assisting with wiring, soldering, crimping pins, installing connectors (AC and DC)
- Occasionally assisting with testing, data collection and troubleshooting
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent preferred
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Electrical experience (wiring, terminals, connectors, harnesses)
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, machine tools, sheet metal tools
- Self-starter, ability to work autonomously with ambiguous work instructions
- Positive attitude, team player
