Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineer reports to Hydrafab’s General Manager and produces specifications for, design, development, manufacturing and installing new or modified mechanical components or systems. Mechanical engineers need to be technically minded, able to demonstrate numerical and scientific ability and have problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities as Mechanical Engineer
- Be responsible for quality control of various activities
- Help streamline work processes at Hydrafab
- Interface with customers for trouble-shooting
- Design systems that solve problems for Hydrafab and for customers
- Present ideas to customers to streamline and improve their processes when appropriate
- Assess project requirements
- Measure the performance of mechanical components, devices and engines
- Agree upon budgets, timescales and specifications with clients and managers
- Maintain and modify equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable and efficient
- Using computer-aided design/modeling software
- Liaising with suppliers
- Undertake relevant research
- Produce and implement designs and test procedures
- Present ideas and designs to managers and clients
- Test, evaluate, modify and re-test products
- Write reports and documentation
- Provide technical advice
- Analyze and interpret data.

- Fabricate metal objects
- Inspect work and equipment
- Evaluate all drawings and ensure implementation according to welding specifications
- Perform all welding work with help of forming and cutting equipment
- Provide assistance to production process and mold various fixtures
- Perform efficient welding of various metal objects with help of gas torch and welder
- Perform repair to damaged alloy articles and prepare new articles with help of welding machines
- Perform work with help of various hand and power tools
- Analyze diagrams and specifications and cut all metal accordingly with help of oxy/acetylene or plasma torch
- Set up and operate metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding, and cutting equipment
- Evaluate finished products and perform quality checks on product.
- Administer all welding activities such as welding small parts and finished products
- Assemble old units and perform modification and repair work if require
Work Condition
A Mechanical Engineer at Hydrafab has a working condition that is normal for a repair and manufacturing environment. The work involves acting as a Hydraulic Mechanic, Machinist, Welder Fabricator, and Mechanical Engineer. He/she operates heavy equipments and requires the use of safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protectors, and work boots. Ear protectors are in the supply room and it is your responsibility to wear them.
A lot of hydraulic maintenance is performed with heavy and unique tools. The Mechanical Engineer operates hydraulic systems at pressures 10,000 PSI. Steel toe boots are required.
Educational Requirements
- High school graduate, required
- Mechanical Engineering degree, required
- MSHA 5023
Experience:
- Extensive hydraulic and technical experience in open and closed loop hydraulic systems
- Experience with hydraulic motors, valve and cylinder rebuilding
- Welding knowledge
- Skills in using heavy and power tools
- Entry-level employment as a Mechanic/Technician.
Other requirements:
- Must pass drug test on random basis if requested
- Competent mechanical skills and ability to be trained on new concepts
- Ability to read hydraulic schematics
- Ability to generate respect and trust from internal and external audiences
- Read, understand, and be responsible for company policies
