Summary:
Design mechanical components for custom equipment for a wide variety of projects either independently or with group based on request by client and reviews with internal stakeholders in the project. Strives to meet the proposed budget, schedule, and technical objectives.
Essential Functions:
1. Performs engineering calculations to design products or systems based on objectives provided by the Project Manager.
2. Performs design analysis.
3. Prepares and review concepts, design layouts, or schematics.
4. Recommends and selects components necessary to fulfill the design, including designing original components if not available commercially.
5. Participates in brainstorming sessions.
6. Reviews drawing packages to identify errors.
7. Participates in the debug and testing of end product.
8. Participates in the coordination of the fabrication of the end product.
9. Participates in the client reviews.
10. Participates in the project risk assessment.
11. Participates in the safety reviews.
12. Participates in the manufacturing reviews.
13. Effectively interacts with internal and external team members across all departments.
14. Utilizes mechanical design standard operating procedures in the preparation of print packages.
15. Understands and complies with requirements of the QMS, AS9100, and/or ISO 9000.
16. Travels on an as required basis.
17. Additional work hours as required.
18. Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
2. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
3. Ability to create detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, according to engineering descriptions, sketches, and design proposals.
4. Competency in technical mathematics.
5. Familiarity with machining and manufacturing processes, assembly procedures, and mechanical functions.
6. Skill using Windows-based personal computer applications, including Microsoft Office programs.
7. Understanding of CAD-based software.
Preferred:
1. SolidWorks experience.
2. Knowledge of fluid power and mechanical power transmission systems.
